The event was co-organised by the H.S. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the G.S. Karazin Kharkiv National University, the Donbas State Pedagogical University, Metinvest Polytechnic Technical University Ltd, and Zaporizhzhia National University.
The Conference brought together academics and practitioners from across Ukraine, united by a shared aspiration: to explore the psychological and philosophical dimensions of human existence in the context of a protracted armed conflict and to establish a theoretical foundation for providing practical support to society.
During the plenary session Kirilo Hutsol, Chair of the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, delivered a presentation entitled “Narrative Competence as a Mental Resource for Ukrainian Youth in Wartime”. In his speech, he emphasised the special responsibility of the younger generation of scientists in the current circumstances: it is they who are shaping the research agenda that will determine the development of psychological and philosophical science in Ukraine for years to come. The presentation elicited a lively response from the audience and prompted an open professional discussion.
Marina Pavelchuk, Deputy Chair of the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, and Lyubov Baz, Secretary of the Council, emphasised that the Council of Young Scientists consistently supports interdisciplinary dialogue and promotes the integration of young researchers into the wider academic community – despite all the challenges of wartime.
Conference participants presented research findings in the fields of cognitive psychology, narrative identity, psychological resilience, and psychological support practices under martial law. Particular attention was paid to issues of young people’s mental health, personal resource potential, and the prospects for the development of psychological science in Ukraine.
The Conference organisers and participants expressed their gratitude to all co-organising institutions for supporting academic dialogue. The event confirmed the Ukrainian academic community’s readiness to maintain a high standard of professional discourse and to continue research work despite all the difficulties of wartime.
