Department of Higher Education
The Department′s activities date back to November 1993, when the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Vocational Education was established, headed by Academician of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine L.O. Kanishchenko. In November 2008, the Department received its current name. From 1997 to 2017, the Department was headed by Doctor of Sciences in Pedagogic Sciences, Professor, Full Member of the Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Mykola Borisovych Yevtukh. Since March 24, 2017, the Department has been headed by Doctor Philosophy, Professor, Full Member (Academician) of the Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Petro Yuriyovich Saukh.
The Department consists 15 academicians, 15 corresponding members, 7 foreign members of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, 9 honorary academicians and 2 honorary doctors.
The Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine (director – I.I. Drach) and the University of Educational Management of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine (rector – M.O. Kyrychenko) are subordinate to the Department.
The Department works on a methodological strategy for the modernization of higher education, studies the architectonics of modern processes of transformation of science and education, their synergy as the main resource of the knowledge society; searches for effective economic and managerial determinants of the development of higher education and develops innovative approaches to the activities of higher educational institutions in the context of educational changes; studies the psychological and pedagogical foundations of improving the educational process in higher education, organizational features and pedagogical factors of improving the quality of professional training of specialists and works on the introduction of a new algorithm for a flexible system of continuous education; develops basic requirements for the educational and professional level of heads of educational institutions and establishments, builds possible innovative models of the management cycle in the context of decentralization processes and balanced development of human capital; carries out an analysis of international cooperation between Ukrainian universities and foreign university centers, prepares scientific expert recommendations on specific steps for implementing the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education".
The Department is responsible for the publication of printed scientific professional journals: “Higher Education of Ukraine”, “Ô³ëîñîô³ÿ îñâ³òè. Philosophy of Education”, “Postgraduate Pedagogical Education in Ukraine”, “Science Rise”, collections of scientific works “Bulletin of Postgraduate Education” and “Space of Art Therapy” and the electronic professional publication “Theory and Methods of Educational Management”.
