ACTIVITIES OF THE COUNCIL OF YOUNG SCIENTISTS

OF THE National ACADEMY OF EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES OF UKRAINE

The Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the Council) was established in 2016.

The first organizational meeting of the Council took place on November 11, 2016.

In its activities, the Council is guided by the Regulations on the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations), the new edition of which was approved by the Resolution of the Presidium of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine on May 16, 2019.

The purpose of the Council is to represent, protect, and promote the rights and interests of young scientists of institutions subordinate to the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, and to ensure their active participation in scientific research.

The tasks of the Council are:

To unite young scientists of institutions subordinate to the NAPN of Ukraine in conducting scientific activities, to prepare proposals for the development of their grant, scholarship, and other forms of support.

To promote the involvement of young scientists in scientific competitions, the formation of teams of young scientists to carry out promising scientific projects.

1. To promote scientific activities, professional development, career growth, the realization of creative potential, and the provision of informational and organizational support to young scientists of institutions subordinate to the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.
2. Support young scientists from institutions subordinate to the NAPN of Ukraine in conducting scientific, scientific-organizational, and scientific-educational events.
3. Promote the development and improvement of the scientific sphere of Ukraine and its integration into the global and European research space.

Areas of activity of the Council:

1. Facilitating the establishment of professional contacts between institutions subordinate to the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, scientific institutions of Ukraine, higher education institutions of Ukraine, public scientific organizations, and foreign scientific organizations to deepen scientific cooperation and jointly conduct scientific, scientific-organizational, and scientific-educational events.
2. Ensuring information exchange among young scientists: dissemination of scientific and other information related to the activities of young scientists; provision of information on awards, scholarships, grants, conferences, schools, and other events to support young scientists.
3. Participation in the nomination of candidates from subordinate institutions of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine for scholarships and awards for young scientists.
4. Organization and holding of scientific and scientific-practical conferences, seminars, schools, and other scientific, scientific-organizational, and scientific-educational events.
5. Promoting science in Ukrainian society, particularly among students, by organizing and conducting excursions, lectures, “science picnics,” and other modern forms of educational work.
6. Preparing proposals on improving social guarantees for young scientists working in institutions subordinate to the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.
7. Delegating representatives of the Council to working groups (expert commissions) created by the leadership of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine to address pressing issues facing young scientists in the system of the National Academy of Educational Sciencesof Ukraine.
8. Creation and maintenance of the Council′s information resources with the aim of disseminating information about its activities, providing information support to young scientists, etc.
9. Organization and conduct of cultural, educational, and sports events, social projects.

Events held by the Council

To achieve the Council′s goals and in accordance with the above areas of work, the Council has initiated, organized, and continuously conducts a series of events that contribute to the professional development of young scientists and interaction between young scientists of the NAPN of Ukraine, the NAS, industry academies, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and higher education institutions, in particular:

1)development of foreign language competence. To this end, the Council has launched a monthly English-language seminar, “OPEN UP!”, where everyone, regardless of their level of language proficiency, has the opportunity to gain experience in discussing topics in English.

2)Practical application of scientific research results. To this end, the Council launched a training marathon, “OPEN AIR!”. The trainers are members of the Councils of Young Scientists of the Institute of Social and Political Psychology and the University of Education Management, and the organizer is the Council of Young Scientists of the Ivan Ziazun Institute of Pedagogical Education and Adult Education.

3)upholding the principles of academic integrity. In cooperation with the Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko, an All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference for students, graduate students, and young scientists, “Academic Culture of a Researcher in the Educational Space,” was launched. The Council of Young Scientists of the Ivan Ziazun Institute of Pedagogical Education and Adult Education became the coordinator of this cooperation. The Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Information Technologies and Learning Tools also initiated and conducts a series of seminars and master classes on the formation of principles and development of academic integrity among scientists.

4)exchange of experience between young scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and higher education institutions. The platform for the implementation of this aspiration is the round table “YOUNG SCIENTISTS IN THE CONTEXT OF UKRAINE′S INTEGRATION INTO THE INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND SCIENTIFIC SPACE.” It is coordinated by the Council of Young Scientists of the V.O. Sukhomlynsky State Scientific and educational Library of Ukraine.

5)Cooperation with the Councils of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education and Science, and higher education institutions. An important platform for bringing together young scientists is the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists “SCIENTIFIC YOUTH.” The coordinator is the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Information Technologies and Learning Tools.

The cooperation also resulted in the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Family Policy in Ukraine: Problems and Prospects for Development.” The coordinator is the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Social and Political Psychology.

Representatives of the Council are also associate members of the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, who are actively involved in protecting the rights of young scientists.
