Understanding the intentions of national development

The publication “Kremen V. Education: ideas, reflections, experience: articles, reports, speeches, interviews / collection of works in five volumes. Kyiv: Gramota, 2025” has been published.

In a difficult modern period of Ukrainian history - resistance to Russian aggression, and therefore the affirmation of national identity and values ​​of the mental structure of Ukrainians, the emergence of new goals and hopes as a result of overcoming inexorable disappointments and accepting reality - the appearance of the five-volume work by Vasyl Kremen is not just timely, but - a meaning-making event.

Vasyl Kremen is one of the names in the history of independent Ukraine, a name behind which a personality appears, truly known not only to all fellow citizens, but also far beyond the borders of the country. A name that does not require explanations and the addition of a list of positions, titles, ranks...

The multi-volume book presents a total of 296 works by the author, through which the reader learns more deeply not only the era, but also one of its incomparable national leaders.

The composition of the multi-volume book is logical - the presentation of works by years and historical periods, connected by leading philosophical and educational ideas and stages of development of national education and science during the activities of Vasyl Kremen as a scientist and statesman.

Volume 1: 1997–2002 - from the election as the President of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and the proclamation of the ideas of humanism in education at the general meeting of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine in 1997 - to the adoption of the National Doctrine of the Development of Education of Ukraine and its approval by the Decree of the President of Ukraine of April 17, 2002 and the beginning of the real implementation of its guidelines in education.

Volume 2: 2003–2005: from the methodological principles of modernization of the educational sector at all levels, in particular higher education – to the fateful decisions of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine related to the draw of the Maidan in 2004 and the substantive provision of joining the Bologna Process through the signing of the Bologna Declaration on May 19, 2005.

Volume 3: 2006–2010 – a period of immersion in scientific activity, writing fateful monographs “Philosophy of the National Idea: Man. Education. Society” (2007), “Philosophy of Human Centrism in Strategies of the Educational Space” (2009) – to a speech at parliamentary hearings in the Verkhovna Rada on June 9, 2010, which advocated 12-year general education for Ukraine on the path to a European future.

Volume 4: 2011–2016 – a time of intensive development of the philosophical and educational basis for the further development of the educational sector, in particular, informatization and distance education, innovation as the basis of the worldview of modern man, adult education, a synergistic approach in education, the formation of human capital as the basis of social development.

Volume 5: 2017-2024 – a modern period of deepening the issues of nation-building, strategic directions for the development of educational sciences under distance education conditions, psychological and pedagogical support for Ukrainian citizens in the situation of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, in particular the educational community, the development of close cooperation with European scientific and educational partners.

The advantage of the publication is its style – the presentation of literary forms that are small in volume and understandable in their manner of expression to a wide range of readers, providing an unsurpassed paradigm of communication.

These are philosophical essays that contain not only the author′s scientific theses, but also a detailed presentation of their application in scientific, educational and practical pedagogical activities; reports addressed to both leading scientists - members of scientific academies, and to the general public of the scientific community; speeches made for the management circles of our state and participants in large-scale world forums; interviews - the most democratic form, containing both expressions of statesmanlike views and intimate revelations, as significant as they are interesting for the general public.

The five-volume series "Education: Ideas, Reflections, Experience" systematizes and streamlines the issues and events, and not only educational, during the more than 25-year period of independent Ukraine and their philosophical and methodological basis. In essence, the mystery of the interaction of high intelligence with the surrounding world, the production of brilliant ideas for the humanistic transformation of the latter for the sake of civilizational development and their implementation in the real history of social progress is consistently revealed to the reader.

Mastering texts, perhaps already known to the vast majority of readers of books of this type, fills with optimism and faith in the victory of intellect over emotion. In a dialogue with the reader, the author explains the still unfathomable, opens a deeper understanding of what has already been accomplished, provides a vision of the prospects for further movement.
