On May 12–13, 2026, the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine hosted the 6th International Scientific and Practical Online Conference “The World of Didactics: Didactics in the Modern World”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.
The event was organised by the Department of Didactics of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. The Conference brought together scientists, educators, heads of educational institutions, lecturers, young researchers and representatives of the international academic community from Ukraine and abroad, including the Republic of Poland, Latvia, Georgia, the Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania and the United Kingdom, to discuss pressing issues in contemporary didactics and the development of education in the face of global challenges.
The Conference began with welcoming remarks from representatives of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and international partner institutions. The participants were addressed by Academician Oleg Topuzov, Vice-President of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and Director of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine; Academician Oleksandr Lyashenko, Academician-Secretary of the Department of General Secondary Education and Digitalisation of Educational Systems of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine; Svitlana Romanyuk, Professor at the University of Warsaw (Republic of Poland); Zoya Adamia, Director of the Georgian-Ukrainian Institute of Languages and Culture at the Georgian International University (Georgia); Marina Grynova, Rector of the V.G. Korolenko Poltava National Pedagogical University; Iryna Zadorozhna, Vice-Rector of the Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University; Tetyana Opalyuk, Dean of the Faculty of Special Education, Psychology and Social Work at the Ivan Ohienko Kamianets-Podilskyi National University; Ilze Virkava, Professor at the Latvian University of Biosciences and Technologies (Latvia).
Welcoming remarks to the participants were delivered by Oleksandr Balanutsa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Arab Emirates, and Dr Sarah Cardey, Director of the Graduate Institute for International Development, Agriculture and Economics at the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development (United Kingdom).
During the plenary sessions and thematic discussions, a series of scientific papers were presented, focusing on contemporary approaches in didactics, the development of critical thinking, the professional training of teachers, innovative teaching technologies, the implementation of the “New Ukrainian School”’ Concept, and person-centred pedagogy.
On the second day of the Conference, participants continued their discussion of pressing issues concerning the development of modern didactics, international scientific cooperation, the implementation of a competence-based approach, and innovative pedagogical technologies in the educational process.
During the plenary session, participants listened to presentations on the development of critical thinking among learners, professionally oriented foreign language teaching, contemporary educational practices, and the training of future teachers.
The Conference served as an important platform for international academic dialogue, the exchange of professional experience, and the presentation of current research findings in the fields of pedagogy and didactics.
