
From 19 to 25 May, the National Barrier-Free Week was declared in our country for the first time. This initiative was launched by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, as part of the strategy to create a barrier-free space in Ukraine by 2030.
Throughout the week, educational events and artistic events are held across the country, bringing together the government, business, science, education, NGOs and the media. The aim of this initiative is to spread a culture of barrier-free access through information campaigns, motivation for change and promotion of equal opportunities for citizens.
On 21 May 2025, Oksana Lapa, Head of the Centre for Psychological Support of Professional Activities of Teachers of Vocational Education Institutions of the Institute of Vocational Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, held a thematic webinar for managers and teachers of vocational (vocational and technical) and professional higher education institutions on the Basics of Barrier-Free Educational Space.
During the webinar, the principles, patterns and practical methods of organising barrier-free space in institutions and communities were discussed. The speaker paid special attention to the formation of a culture of respect for the dignity and needs of a particular ordinary person - a child, an adult, a person of respectable age.
The webinar participants also had the opportunity to receive practical advice on organising social interaction and various events for students to better understand the basics of barrier-free space.
