The Professional Development Programme for Academic Managers, initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and implemented by the British Council within the framework of the joint project with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development ‘Ukraine Improving Higher Education for Results Project’ (UIHERP), continues.

On 22 May, Iryna Drach, Director of the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, held a training «Science as a Strategic Priority. Open Science», which was attended by teams from six Ukrainian universities.

The teams from the National University of Life and Environmental Sciencesof Ukraine, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Sumy National Agrarian University, National University «Chernihiv Polytechnic», Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University, andPoltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, despite the differences in research, were interested in learning the principles and forms of implementation of the Open Science activities.

The following topical issues were discussed during the training:

- problems of science and innovation development in universities in view of the key trends of the European Union;

- using the potential of Open Science to improve research efficiency and shorten the path from research to innovation;
