On April 7, 2021, at the meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine the activity of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine on the development of  Sukhomlinystyka in the educational and scientific space.

Larysa Berezivska, the director of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine reported on the experience and prospects of the activity in this direction. The director of the Institute of Problems on Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Ivan Bekh as the chairman of the commission provided the information about the analysis of the mentioned activity of the scientific library.

The participants of the meeting emphasized that the Library carries out various work on the development of Sukhomlinystykaas a new direction in pedagogy to study the life and work of a prominent Ukrainian teacher, the introduction of his ideas into educational practice. This activity is developing in the interrelated areas: scientific-organizational, scientific, scientific-informational, scientific-methodical, socio-cultural, international.

V.O. Sukhomlinskyi Foundation has been created and is systematically replenished in the Library, with a reading room next to it, where almost 6,000 documents are now stored. In the structure of the department of pedagogical source studies and biography since 2016, que sector ofSukhomlinystykain Ukraine has been successfully functioning as a creative laboratory for research and promotion of pedagogical and literary heritage of V.O. Sukhomlinskyi.

A series of scientific researches aimed at obtaining a holistic biographical and bibliographic knowledge of Sukhomlinystyka studies has been carried out. Five bibliographic indexes about the life, activity, implementation of ideas, honouring the memory of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi (the most complete - to the 100th anniversary of the teacher′s birth, has more than 5 thousand downloads from the Electronic Library of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine), prepared and published more than 120 scientific papers. The research results were tested during participation in almost 60 scientific and practical events.

Electronic resources of the Library’s web portal have been created and regularly updated. V.O. Sukhomlinskyi page; page "Sukhomlinskyi Vasyl Oleksandrovych" information and bibliographic resource "Outstanding teachers of Ukraine and the world" (more than 5 thousand visits in 2016-2021); Sukhomlinystyka collection (224 full-text documents) of the Scientific and Pedagogical Electronic Library; Sukhomlinystyka database of the electronic catalogue (over 4600 bibliographic records). More than 60 book exhibitions have been organized, 15 presentations and videos have been prepared. In 2020–2021, four virtual projects were introduced: “Let′s read Sukhomlinskyi online”, “Aphorisms of Sukhomlinskyi”, “Tales of V.O. Sukhomlinskyi in textbooks and manuals of Oleksandra Savchenko”, ‘Sukhomlinskyi News”on Facebook; virtual reading room of V.O. Sukhomlinskyi Foundation on the web portal of the institution.

Every year within the framework of international and all-Ukrainian pedagogical readings "Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi in dialogue with the present" for the purpose of scientific and methodical support of the activity of educational libraries the Library organizes the work of the librarian section. Together with the Institute for Modernization of the Content of Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, an all-Ukrainian monthly and webinar dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of V.O. Sukhomlinskyi was organized for librarians (over 1000 connections).

Large-scale socio-cultural work is carried out. Almost 400 lectures and excursions were organized for students, scientific, scientific-pedagogical and library workers, theatrical literary and musical programs with the involvement of pupils of preschool institutions, exhibitions of creative works of children and parents based on the works of V.O. Sukhomlinskyi, reading fairy tales and stories of the teacher.

Cooperation with foreign institutions, scientists and public organizations is developing. Close ties have been established with scientists and educators of the People′s Republic of China. Representatives of the both sides have repeatedly participated in scientific events in Ukraine and China. The library staff is a member of the Chinese National V.O. Sukhomlinskyi Heritage Association. Long-term cooperation connects the Library with the Australian researcher and promoter of V.O. Sukhomlinskyi heritage among English-speaking readers in the world, the founder of the newsletter "Sukhomlinskyi News" Allan Cockerille.
