The scientific, scientific and organizational activity of Mykola Yarmachenko Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine for 2016-2020 and prospects of its development were discussed on November 18 at the regular meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. Vyacheslav Zasenko, Director of Mykola Yarmachenko Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology, Academician of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, informed about this issue.

The Institute conducts scientific,scientific and organizational activities aimed at scientific and methodological support of correctional and developmental, psychological and pedagogical support of children with special educational needs. The subject of scientific research corresponds to the statutory tasks of the Institute and the requirements for the organization of scientific research of the NAES of Ukraine.

During the reporting period, the Institute conducted 15 scientific studies (12 basic and 3 applied) in two areas - "Theoretical and methodological principles of education of children with special educational needs" and "Education of children with special educational needs. Inclusive education ".

The scientific results of the research completed in 2016–2017 are presented in the new educational and methodological support for the education of children with special educational needs from primary education to high school.
