Scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine have prepared a scientific and analytical report "General secondary education in Ukraine in the context of education in Europe: duration and structure." The document contains a comparative analysis of the structure of the national system of general secondary education in Ukraine and  education systems of 38 countries included in the European Union Erasmus + program (27 EU member states, as well as Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Iceland and Liechtenstein , Norway, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Montenegro, Switzerland). The duration of study and the structure of the school year in Ukraine and European countries are analyzed, conclusions are made on the adequacy of study time and vacation in domestic and European secondary schools.

 Scientific analysis of the main trends in education in the European educational space and comparing them with the national educational trends and scientific trends of modern educational sciences of Ukraine made it possible to formulate proposals for improving the organization of the educational process in Ukrainian schools in the context of transformational processes in general secondary education.
