On November 17, 2017 the General Meeting of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the NAES of Ukraine was held. The participants of the Meeting listened and discussed the report of Vasyl Kremen, President of the NAES of Ukraine, "25 years of activity of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine: achievements and prospects". The priority research directions of the NAES of Ukraine and the Statute of the NAES of Ukraine in new wording were approved, as well as the issues on the deprivation of the status of two corresponding members of the NAES of Ukraine were considered and a relevant decision was taken.

The General meeting of  the NAES of Ukraine was attended by the Vice Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, Adviser to the President of Ukraine Yuriy Bogutsky, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Pavlo Hobzey, Head of the Department of the Humanitarian Policy of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Mykola Beryzko, Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Sergei Pyrozhkov, Member of the Committee on Science and Education of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Konstankevich, heads of the national branch academies of sciences of Ukraine, delegation of the Committee of Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The leading scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine have been awarded with high state and branch awards for significant achievements in the field of Ukrainian education, pedagogy and psychology,.

The president of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Vasyl Kremen briefly described the history of formation of the Academy, its achievements in the period of 25 years of activity and a long-term target.

In connection with the adoption of a new Law of Ukraine "On Education" the General meeting approved the research priority directions of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and the Statute of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine in its new wording, as well as according to the clauses 29, 30, 32 of the Statute of the NAES of Ukraine, the General meeting ofthe NAES of Ukraine decided to deprive Petro Melnik and Yevgenyi Sulima the status of Corresponding Members of the NAES of Ukraine.
